Springfield Oaks Shines in Oakland County
Waterfrod, MI - For Oakland County residents there can hardly be a better golf value.
Located on Andersonville Rd., about 10 minutes from Dixie Highway, in Davisburg, Mi., Springfield Oaks is perhaps the best of the Oakland County Parks "Oaks" munis.
This challengingtrack is set amongest rolling hills and offers a mix of tall tree lined holes that remind one of courses a couple hundred miles north and the more traditional semi-open layouts more common to southern Michigan. Water is readily available coming in to play on 8 of 18 holes.
If the water is not your style, there are 37 "beaches" to play in.
Playing 6033 from the tips (Par 71, Rating: 68.4, Slope: 118) and 5705 from the Whites (Par 71, Rating: 67.5, Slope: 116) it is not long; but do not be fooled, it is still a challenge.
As an example: No. 7, a par 5, is a tree lined straight-away Par 5 that play 523 yards. No big deal, right? Not so fast... this one is up hill, significantly up hill... all the way.
The result is that the 523 yards plays more like 580 ... a big drive and 3 wood will still leave some short wedge work for all but the longest hitters!
I said early on that this track was a value; here's why: For $23 an Oakland County resident can walk this ... mid-day weekends!! For just $11 dollars more you can ride. (Remember the hills I mentioned?
This is one track where you should give serious consideration to parting with that extra $11!!)
I highly recommend you take the time to visit this course. When you do, take a minute on the tee of Number 5 to appreciate the view. This course will test every shot in your bag, reward you with some beautiful views, and won't require you to refinance the house to play a round. Give it a try; you will not be disappointed!
Bravo for the Springfield Oaks review

For over 15 years, my friends an I have been playing Springfield Oaks with some regularity. We found out years ago that there are beautiful views, some challenging golf holes, and the price has always been right!
If you want to hit every club in your bag, find your way out to this hidden gem. You will not be disappointed. That is, unless you are spraying your tee ball!
