If You Play One Course This Year, Play Red Hawk
EAST TAWAS, MI - As a serious golfer, I have long awaited the arrival of a serious golf course in my hometown. The Red Hawk, scheduled to open June 11, 1999 in East Tawas is sure to be one of the premier courses in the state very soon.
I had the opportunity to tour the course one week ago, and it is already in shape for play. For a new course, the fairways and greens are already full and beautifully maintained. There has been put a tremendous amount of effort to make this a PGA Tour quality course.
At first glance, the length of the course may lead people to believe that it will score easily, but remember, it is a par 71, (about 6600 yards from the championship tees). The course will have many players thinking about their game, as many shot decisions will have to be made.
It is not a course that will have you pulling out the driver too often, and you will have to strategically place shots off the tee as well as approaches to have a chance on this absolutely magnificent golf course.
If you make one trip to a new golf course this season, I recommend that you play here; you will not be disappointed. Those of you that have played Tour caliber courses will be impressed, and those of you that haven't now have a chance to see what it feels like.
