Timberstone Golf Course at Pine Mountain Resort in Iron Mountain, Michigan
Timberstone Golf Course at Pine Mountain Resort is located in Iron Mountain in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The course is remote and a real knockout, offering up the quintessential northern Michigan golf experience. It features plenty of nature, with deer scampering around the fairways, and just about each hole is lined with thick forest.
Timberstone was designed by Michigan golf course architect Jerry Matthews, who implemented some imaginative and large green complexes, including two double greens: the ninth and 18th holes share a green and also the seventh and 12th.
The final two holes at Timberstone play straight downhill, first the par-3 17th hole, which plays up to 215 yards from the championship tees to a two-tiered green. The 18th plays over 600 yards, though the second shot plays steeply downhill and can be reached in two shots for longer hitters.
Peak season rates at Timberstone Golf Course are $69-$79.
